Bully Ray Explains Why Dudley Boyz Reunion Won’t Happen, Says There’s No Heat With D-Von

Bully Ray says not to count on a Dudley Boyz reunion.

The Dudley Boyz had a storied career as multi-time tag team champions all over the world with time spent in WWE, TNA, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Bully and D-Von haven’t teamed since an indie appearance in December 2016, and it appears that may have been the last team they’ll ever team together. Bully recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet on Insight and explained where they stand.

“Physically, I don’t think so because I don’t think that D-Von can do it anymore,” Ray said. “We’ve had the conversation. And for the world to know, because people on social media take things out of context and run with shit, it’s ridiculous. Me and D-Von have been like this [crosses fingers] since day one. There has never been an issue with me and D-Von. All this shit that you like to run with, these clickbait headlines, f*ck off.”

Bully simply stated there is “no heat” between them as he is focused on his own work while D-Von is focused on running his wrestling school.

“Zero. Zero [heat]. There’s nothing. D-Von said that ‘Bubba’s got his school, I’ve got my school.’ Yeah, because I moved out of Florida. D-Von wanted to do his own school on his own, this is just normal stuff that went on. There’s zero heat.”

He also clarified why he left WWE again in 2016, noting that he was burnt out on portraying the Dudleys character.

“[Leaving WWE] didn’t cause a divide. I told Vince, ‘I can’t do this Dudley thing anymore. I can’t do this Dudley thing the way you want to do it.’ I did it for a year. Vince sat me and D-Von down and said ‘Here’s what I want you to do. I want you to work with the New Day, help get them over. Work with The Usos, help them get over. Work with The Wyatt’s, help them get over, and then whoever else we throw at you.’ Okay. You got it, no problem. The boss sat us down, this is how much he’s paying us, this is what he needs. You got it.

“But after a year of doing it, I’m just like ‘Okay, I’m burnt on The Dudleys and I know I got Bully Ray in my back pocket.’ I told D-Von up front, I said, ‘Listen, I don’t think I’m gonna re-sign.’ So we knew all of this. He re-signed, became a producer with the company. Just recently, they parted ways. D-Von had a great career there as a producer. There was never any animosity with me and D-Von.”

Bully confirmed they talk all the time and have autograph signings together coming up, but isn’t sure a reunion would consist of anything more. Bully noted D-Von’s health issues in recent years, including a spinal fusion and a stroke. D-Von’s doctors told him that taking one bad bump could be bad for his health.
