Mace recalls a time when he almost missed out on being a Maximum Male Model.
During a recent interview with Metro UK, Mace spoke about some of the gimmicks that were pitched for him prior to joining Mansoor and Maxxine Dupri in Maximum Male Models. Mace says several ideas were pitched and even got as far as the concept art stage.
“Honestly. I was sitting at home for a couple of months, kind of waiting to decide what I was going to do next. I got a call and they said, ‘All those things that we talked about, you’re not going to do. We have an idea for you,’ he recalled.
“I was almost a cyberpunk mercenary, a bounty hunter, an executioner,” Mace revealed. “Axe, hood and all – there’s concept art.”
Mace said that he eventually got a phone call letting him know those ideas were scrapped, but he would be getting paired with Mansoor.
“They gave me a call and they were like, ‘All that stuff? Nah! What we’re gonna do is you’re going to be a male model now.’ I said, ‘Great!’ They said, ‘You’re going to do it with Mansoor.’ I was like, ‘Even better! Rock and roll!’ At the end of the day, we’re God’s greatest clowns, and if you give us anything – in this grand circus of life, we are God’s greatest clowns.”
Mace (Brennan Williams) is a former NFL star that joined WWE in 2016. Williams was originally called Dio Maddin in NXT. He initially worked as a wrestler and later did commentary on RAW NXT and 205 Live. Later, he was added to the Retribution stable as Mace. The group disbanded in late 2021, and he joined Maximum Male Models in April 2022.
