Jagger Reid (James Drake) and Rip Fowler (Zack Gibson) look forward to their next chapter, even if it won’t be starting for a while.
Fightful Select recently reported that the duo, collectively known as The Dyad or Grizzled Young Veterans, requested their release from WWE, but they subsequently appeared on WWE TV.
In a tweet on April 24, Drake stated that WWE denied his request for a release. He thanked the fans for their support before he stated that his contract expires on October 14. Drake wrote that he is excited to “share our next chapter, once we are free agents.”
Fowler also tweeted that WWE denied their request for a release, which was made on April 3. He stated that they will be free agents again. He then stated that “We’ll see you on the 16th.”
Fowler posted a follow-up and wrote that their statements were purely meant to keep their fans updated. He wrote that their Schism stablemates, Joe Gacy and Ava, are both “boss”, and they will keep smashing everything.
Drake first competed for WWE in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament in 2017. The duo started regularly working for WWE in 2018, and they participated in the United Kingdom Championship Tournament that year. They then joined NXT UK and became the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Championship. The duo moved to NXT’s stateside brand in 2020.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
