Following his return to the WWE ring, Shinsuke Nakamura has one thing on his mind: gold.
Speaking backstage after his return to WWE SmackDown, Nakamura was asked about how returning. Nakamura said that he’s happy to be back, and “recharged and rebooted,” and looking for some fresh meat in the form of new opponents. The superstar also said that since day 1 of his appearance in WWE, he’s had his eyes set on a world championship, and that hasn’t changed.
On the April 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion made his return and faced Madcap Moss in a singles match. “The King of Strong Style” scored a decisive victory as he looked to remind everyone that he was a force to be reckoned with.
Prior to his appearance on April 14, Nakamura hadn’t wrestled on WWE TV since the November 11 episode of WWE SmackDown, where he lost to Santos Escobar in a SmackDown World Cup tournament match. He competed in dark matches, and he wrestled at a number of house shows as well. Nakamura hadn’t wrestled in a WWE ring since a live event on January 22. He wrestled Great Muta in a special appearance at NOAH The New Year 2023 on January 1.
