Russell Crowe Congratulates Edge And Finn Balor For Hell In A Cell Match At WrestleMania

The stars were out for WrestleMania 39 in Hollywood.

Russell Crowe is no stranger to the acting scene, but on Sunday night, he used his skills in a different capacity. While the Hell in a Cell structure lowered down for the WrestleMania match between Edge and Finn Balor, an introduction package began to play on the screen. As the video started rolling, it revealed the face, and voice, of Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe.

Crowe stars as Father Gabriele Amorth in the upcoming supernatural horror film The Pope’s Exorcist. The film itself also served as a sponsor for night two of WrestleMania 39, which featured Edge and Balor’s battle inside Hell in a Cell. Balor fought hard to take down “The Rated R Superstar,” but in the end, it was Edge who emerged victorious after delivering a Con-Chair-To.

Following their vicious battle, Russell Crowe took to Twitter to commend both performers. “Shout out for the efforts of @EdgeRatedR and @FinnBalor inside the Hell in a Cell at #Wrestlemania. All the heart and drama of great pro wrestling. Well done to both and to @WWE,” he tweeted.

Edge soon responded to Crowe’s applause, thanking him for his contributions to the match hype. “Your narration set the tone of the story. Then we had to try and live up to it. So thank you for the incentive too @russellcrowe @popes_exorcist #HIAC,” Edge wrote.

Crowe wasn’t the only celebrity to take part in the WrestleMania 39 festivities. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kettle aided Pat McAfee in his victory against The Miz on night one. Rapper Snoop Dogg appeared on both nights as a special co-host. When Shane McMahon went down with an injury though, Snoop Dogg quickly improvised to replace him, and defeat The Miz on night two with a People’s Elbow.

Internet sensation Logan Paul also competed on the grand spectacle. Despite his loss, “The Maverick” put up a critically acclaimed effort against former WWE Champion Seth Rollins.
