Braun Strowman is proud of what he sees in the mirror nowadays.
It’s no secret that the former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman has transformed his physique over the last several years. During a recent interview with Will Gavin of Talk Wrestling, “The Monster Among Men” opened up about how getting in shape also helped his mental health.
“It used to be the Mania shape, now this is my lifestyle, this is how I am,” Strowman said. “It’s one of the things that while I went through this really bad phase of mental illness that I had where I was depressed and suicidal and a lot of stuff. One of the things that I could control in my life at times when I was out of control was my diet and that’s what pushed me so hard to change my physical appearance because there was something that I didn’t realize at the time when I started working on my physical appearance how much it helped with my mental [health].
“Because now, like, let’s be real, I jump out of the shower and I look at myself and I stand in front of the mirror butt naked, sometimes I baby elephant myself and I go, ‘Dammit, I did this.’ And I get crap from the guys work so I walk around with no shirt on and [they’re] like, ‘Put a shirt on.’ I said, ‘Nope.’ I work too damn hard to look like this, it’d be a shame to put a shirt on, and people ain’t paying money to see me in clothes.”
Strowman and Ricochet will compete in the WrestleMania Showcase match at WWE WrestleMania 39. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
