Motor City Machine Guns Ink New Deal With IMPACT Wrestling

The Motor City Machine Guns are here to stay in IMPACT Wrestling.

One of IMPACT’s most recognizable teams has re-signed with the company. As revealed by Sports Illustrated, The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) have inked a new deal with IMPACT Wrestling. The length of the contract was not disclosed, but in the last year, Shelley and Sabin have recemented themselves inside the company’s tag team division. In December 2022, the duo began their third reign with IMPACT Tag Team Championship, before falling to the Bullet Club on March 2.

Upon re-signing with IMPACT, Alex Shelley said he was “excited” to continue their journey together in wrestling, and in the IMPACT locker room.

“IMPACT is like family to us,” Sabin said. “[Impact president] Scott D’Amore was my trainer. It’s home.”

Shelley later noted that this was his first full-time contract in nearly five years. Outside of wrestling, Shelley acquired a degree in physical therapy. After securing himself in that department, he looked to make a full-time return to wrestling. “I pursued physical medicine, and earning that degree was something I needed to prove to myself. Once I had that security and that confidence, I wanted to be back in Impact,” he said. “It has the most familial bond. There are people here that have seen me grow up from a teenager to a grown-ass man. That’s special to me.”

“And some of the best in the world are right here,” Shelley continued. “There aren’t better wrestlers on the planet than ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey, Jonathan Gresham, Kushida and Chris Sabin. I could go on and on—Frankie Kazarian, Trey Miguel, Black Taurus. These guys are phenomenal.”

This Friday, MCMG will team with Kushida in a six-man tag against Josh Alexander, Rich Swann and Kazarian at IMPACT’s Sacrifice pay-per-view.
