Sammy Guevara discusses the fans’ response to him.
Guevara is known as a polarizing figure in the wrestling world; at times, he has been a well-liked babyface, but he has also garnered plenty of heat among fans. Still, the former TNT Champion continues to shine on AEW TV.
Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, Guevara was asked to describe how he thinks fans respond to him now, and he expressed his belief that they’re coming around on him. Even if they’re not, he stated that fans react to him one way or another, and that’s what counts.
“I think I’m getting the people back. I think 2022, they really hated me,” Guevara said. “Then 2023, I think they’re kind of waking up to, ‘Okay, alright. Maybe we were a little stupid. Maybe he actually is the GOAT, the best. Maybe he is a young, handsome devil.’ I don’t know, maybe that’s not exactly their wording.
“I think the people, regardless if they hate me or like me, they react to me. I think the worst thing that can happen when you come out is no reaction, and let me tell you, some of these guys, they may get no reaction, but Sammy Guevara definitely gets a reaction. So I think, in the locker room, I think it’s all positive. That’s the thing. I have no problems with anybody there. I say, ‘What’s up’ to everybody. But the Internet likes to spin a story. I understand, negativity brings in those clicks, so….”
