AEW Rampage Results – February 17, 2023

Match 1: The Elite (c) defeat Top Flight & AR Fox via pinfall

In the opening match of the night, The Elite showed why they were the champions, defending their AEW World Trios Championships in a stellar bout. Things started with a bit of a joke-y beginning, with both teams doing a basketball tipoff that ended with the Bucks catching Top Flight in a Manhattan Drop. More basketball-themed moves came, including the crowd chanting defense as The Elite began passing a ball around, leading AR Fox to jump up and try and catch the ball and get hit with a devastating superkick in mid-air.

As the match came to an end, The Elite hit a huge triple superkick to finish things, which then led to Omega hitting the One-Winged Angel for the pin and win. After the match, the House of Black appeared on stage, and before anything else could happen, they blinked away and disappeared. The move was unknown, but the commentary team suggested it was the House of Black’s way of communicating that they wanted a shot at the trios titles.

Segment: Orange Cassidy

In an interview with Mark Henry, the reigning AEW All-Atlantic Champion was interrupted by Wheeler Yuta. Yuta said that the best thing he ever did was leave The Best Friends and join Blackpool Combat Club. He continued trash talking his former friend before demanding a title shot, to which Cassidy agreed.

Match 2: Ricky Starks defeats Daniel Garcia via pinfall

Midway through the match, Starks seemed to hurt his leg, but it didn’t deter him. As the match winded down, Garcia looked ready to snatch momentum, even hitting a Rock Bottom-esque move on Starks, but Ricky was able to kick out. Afterward, Garcia locked in the Dragon Tamer, with Sammy Guevara (who was ringside) pulling the ropes away to help his friend. Unfortunately for them, Action Andretti popped up, attacking Guevara and allowing Starks to get to the rope. Starks then hit a huge spear on Garcia afterward, before hitting the Roshambo for the pin and win.

After the match, Guevara grabbed the microphone and demanded a match with Andretti for next week.

Match 3: Jade Cargill (c) defeats Vertvixen

The reigning TBS Champion retained her title in pretty dominant fashion. Cargill led off the match with a huge blow to Vertvixe, before showboating a bit with some push-ups while the referee checked on her opponent. After getting back up, Cargill ended things with a Jaded to improve her record to a pristine 53-0.

Match 4: Dustin Rhodes defeats Swerve Strickland via disqualification

The main event of tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage lived up to the hype, as Rhodes and Strickland went at it right from the very start. Rhodes began his attack of Strickland’s crew by using a weapon on Parker Boudreaux at first, before trapping Strickland in the corner and hitting him with 10 punches. After continuing to dominate for most of the match, a bloodied Rhodes looked to end things by hitting a suplex on Swerve followed by a piledriver, but Strickland kicked out.

After Rhodes hit his finisher and looked ready to pin him, however, Boudreaux got back into the ring, pulling Rhodes off of Strickland and ending the match via disqualification. After the match was ruled over, Boudreaux and Strickland began attacking Rhodes. The duo placed Rhodes’ head on the cement block and set him up for a huge top-row stomp, but out of nowhere, Keith Lee’s music began playing. Lee came running down to the ring and took out both Mogul Affiliates, before Boudreaux took a huge slam to allow Strickland to escape in shock.
