According to a new report, Davey Richards could potentially enter free agency soon.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Richards will be a free agent this spring if he doesn’t reach an agreement with Major League Wrestling; his contract is set to expire this spring. A clear date was not specified in the report.
Richards returned to wrestling in 2021 after he stepped away from the business at the end of 2017 due to a knee injury. At that point, he decided to focus on his studies. He wrestled at a few independent shows in 2021 before he signed with MLW. The two sides agreed to an extension in December 2021, but according to Johnson, that deal will be up in a few months. Richards has enjoyed a successful run with MLW up to this point; he is a former MLW National Openweight Champion, and he won the 2021 Opera Cup.
Prior to his arrival in MLW, Richards won titles around the wrestling world. Among other accolades, he is a former ROH World Champion, and he held the TNA World Tag Team Championship five times with Eddie Edwards.
WrestleZone will continue to monitor the situation and provide information as it becomes available.
