AEW Dynamite Results (1/25): TNT Title Match, Bryan Danielson Competes, More

All Elite Wrestling will deliver a special episode of AEW Dynamite on January 25.

Mark Briscoe will make his debut on the show, just over a week after his brother, Jay Briscoe, lost his life in a car accident on January 17. Mark will face Jay Lethal in a singles match that will honor his brother. Plus, Darby Allin will defend the TNT Championship against Buddy Matthews, Bryan Danielson will take on Brian Cage, and more.

The results are as follows:

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara (with Daniel Garcia) vs. Ricky Starks & Action Andretti

Guevara and Andretti kicked off the match and felt each other out. They’re evenly matched as they trade counters. Guevara gains the upper hand, but not for long, as Andretti takes him down and sends him to the outside. Guevara catches him with a dropkick. He rolls Andretti into the ring and taunts the crowd. Andretti goes for a dive and takes out Garcia. Guevara then hits a dive over the ropes. Andretti plants Guevara with a Spanish Fly and tags Starks. Jericho also tags in. He and Starks chop each other. Jericho takes control and double-teams Starks with Guevara. The former TNT Champion slams Starks, as the JAS members isolate him. Starks counters a diving Guevara and gains some breathing room. Andretti makes the hot tag with a flurry of offense.

Andretti drops Jericho with a backbreaker/neckbreaker comb. He dives onto Jericho and follows it up with a dive onto Guevara. Starks nails Guevara with a DDT. Andretti gets a two count with a crossbody. Guevara and Andretti are both down after a double crossbody. Starks gets a two count with a powerbomb. Jericho blocks a dive from Andretti. Garcia interferes and hits Andretti, and Guevara hits the GTH for the win.

TNT Championship: Darby Allin (c) vs. Buddy Matthews

Matthews blasts Allin with a stiff strike and quicky sends Allin to the outside, where he slams him into the barricade. Allin blocks a kick and slams Matthews onto the apron. Matthews counters a dive into a slam. He bashes Allin into the barricade, but Allin sends him into the barricade with a hurricanrana. Allin lands badly on his leg, and he goes down, clearly in pain. Matthews gains the upper hand, but Allin hits a Coffin Drop to the outside. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Brody King and Malakai Black are on the ramp. Ortiz attacks King, but Black takes the fight to him. Sting joins the fight on the outside. Back in the ring. Matthews hits a powerbomb.

Allin locks in a backpack sleeper, but Matthews powers his way out of him. The champion rallies and hits a crucifix bomb for a two count. They trade blows, and Allin gets a two count with a pin attempt. He hits a buckle bomb and a stomp for a two count. Allin rolls Matthews up for a two count and hits a Code Red for another two count. Allin hits an avalanche Scorpio Death Drop for a two count. The champion hits an Coffin Drop while Matthews is hung up in the ropes and pins him.

Winner and still TNT Champion: Darby Allin

Tony Schiavone interviews Darby after the match. Schiavone references Allin’s winning streak, dating back to his title win. Samoa Joe appears on the video screen and tells Darby he’s in his kingdom. He vows to win back the title Allin stole from him. Joe says winning the title is the biggest mistake Allin has made.

A video package showcases Adam Cole training and getting ready for his return. He looks at an AEW Revolution banner as the video ends.

JungleHOOK (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry & HOOK) vs. Ethan Page & Matt Hardy (with Stokely Hathaway and Isiah Kassidy)

Kassidy and Hathaway clearly aren’t on the same page, but Ethan Page vibes to Matt Hardy’s theme song. The two teams battle it out early on. Hardy gains the advantage and tags in Page. They double-team Perry and slam him to the mat with a double suplex. They continue to control the action for a stretch, but Perry rallies and tags HOOK. The FTW Champion clears house and suplexes Page. He tags Perry, and HOOK goes for the Redrum, but Hardy breaks it up. Hardy tags in and drops Perry with a Side Effect. Hardy goes for the Twist of Fate, but Page asks for the tag. Page goes for the Twist of Fate, but Perry counters it into the Snare Trap. Harrdy doesn’t try to break up the hold, and HOOK knocks him off the apron. Page taps out.

Winners: JungleHOOK (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry & HOOK)

Hathaway and Page are clearly frustrated with Hardy. Matt argues with Ethan.

The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn are at family therapy with The Gunns. Austin says Billy wasn’t around during their childhood. Colten says Billy crushed their dream of winning the titles. Caster says the Gunns would have been fine with Billy, but they wouldn’t be as successful as The Acclaimed. The two teams start arguing, but Billy puts a stop to it. Colten blames Billy for their faults. Billy asks his sons what they want. They say they want the titles.

In an interview with Renee Paquette, Hangman Page discusses his feud with Jon Moxley and notes that he’d like to knock out Moxley in Ohio. Wheeler Yuta walks up and accepts the challenge on Moxley. He then challenges Page to face him on Rampage, and Page accepts.

Bryan Danielson vs. Brian Cage (with Prince Nana) 

Cage overpowers Danielson early on. Danielson kicks Cage’s leg. Cage chops Danielson in the corner. Danielson flips him around and kicks his abdomen. “he American Dragon” gets a two count with a roll-up. Cage eats soke elbows. Danielson traps Cage in the LeBell Lock, but “The Machine” reaches the ropes. Cage leaves the ring, and Danielson dives onto him twice. Cage presses Danielson over his head and slams him into the corner. He tosses Danielson with a German suplex, and Danielson lands on his shoulder. Cage slams Danielson arm-first onto the apron. He continues to attack Danielson’s arm, and he slams his opponent into the barricade. Like a shark who smells blood in the water, Cage continues to hone in on Danielson’s injured arm. Danielson keeps fighting, and he dishes out some kicks.

Cage catches a diving Danielson and hits a shoulder-breaker. “The Machine” ruthlessly continues to inflict punishment on Bryan, and he slams him shoulder-first with a German suplex. Danielson rocks Cage with a dropkick and hits a superplex. Danielson kicks Cage and blasts him with a kick to the head. He stomps Cage and locks in a triangle choke. He rolls through and puts Cage in an ankle lock. Danielson suplexes Cage and goes for his running knee. Cage powerbombs him into the corner and hits another powerbomb. Danielson stacks Cage up and pins him. The ringside doctor checks on Danielson.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

Cage blindsides Danielson after the bell and keeps attacking him. AEW World Champion MJF comes to ringside and gives Cage a chair. Cage wraps the chair around Danielson’s arm and slams him arm-first into the ring post. MJF stomps on Danielson’s injured arm and drills him with punches.

MJF goes to stomp on Danielson’s arm, but Konosuke Takeshita makes the save.

Backstage, Danielson is in the trainer’s room. The trainer begins to give his diagnosis, but Danielson cuts him off. Danielson refuses to let the injury stop him. Danielson says MJF is afraid of getting exposed. He vows to show the world that MJF is a fraud.

Toni Storm vs. Ruby Soho

The two stars feel each other out and battle for positioning. They trade blows, and Storm nails Soho with a big boot. Soho chops and punches Storm in the corner. Storm hits a hip attack that sends Soho crashing to the floor. She takes control and grounds Soho. Ruby rallies and slams Storm face-first into the turnbuckles. Storm gets a two count with a roll-up. Soho hits the No Future for a two count. Soho catches Storm with a knee to the face. Storm acts like she’s hurt and lures Soho in. She pulls her into the ropes and stuns her. Storm then hits a running hip attack and a tornado DDT. Britt Baker’s music plays, and Storm is distracted. Soho hits the Destinaiton Unknown for the win as Baker looks on.

Winner: Ruby Soho

In a promo, MJF addresses Konosuke Takeshita’s actions and warns him that there will be consequences if he doesn’t stay out of his business. He turns his attention to Danielson and says Bryan has a hole in his soul he’s trying to fill. MJF stated that tonight was the tip of the iceberg, and Danielson will find out that physical pain is only fleeting. He stated that he made a call for Bryan’s opponent for next week, as his opponent will be a man who enjoys hurting people. That man is revealed to be Timothy Thatcher.

Mark Briscoe vs. Jay Lethal

Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman are on commentary, and Bobby Cruise is the special ring announcer for the tribute match. Jay Lethal comes to the ring wearing Jay Briscoe’s memorial t-shirt. Mark makes his entrance, and he has both ROH World Tag Team Championship belts with him.

Jay has tears in his eyes as the bell rings. Mark and Lethal take the fight to each other. They trade counters, as they know each other very well. They battle on the apron, and Lethal gains the upper hand. Mark rallies and hits a diving chop. He pumps up the crowd. Mark nails Lethal with an uppercut and slams him for a two count. Lethal takes control and hits the Lethal Injection, but Mark rolls out of the ring. Mark hits a dropkick through the ropes and floors Lethal with a blockbuster on the outside. Mark hits the Froggy Bow through a table. Back in the ring, Mark levels Lethal with a lariat and hits the Jay Driller for the win.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

Mark looks at the camera and tells Jay he loves him. He hugs Lethal as the AEW roster is on the stage clapping. The video screen has the same setup as the Jay Briscoe memorial show. Mark hugs various members of the roster and raises the title.
