Tony Khan: I’m Not Ready To Say When Sting Plans To Retire

Tony Khan comments on Sting‘s potential retirement.

The WWE Hall of Famer made his AEW debut at Winter is Coming 2020, and he has been a featured member of the roster ever since. He often appears alongside Darby Allin, both as his manager and his occasional tag team partner. Sting, 63, has said that his AEW contract will expire this year, and he will retire when that happens.

Speaking on In The Kliq, Khan was asked about Sting’s comments.

“I talk to Sting a lot, and he is somebody who has been a such a huge, huge boost to AEW since he arrived,” Khan said. “Sting debuted a little over two years ago at the first Winter is Coming event in AEW. I catch up with him pretty frequently, on a regular basis, and I have to say, Stint’s motivation for pro wrestling is as high as it’s ever been. He loves what he’s doing. I do think he’s starting to think about what retirement will look like, but he’s also not slowing down at all in the present.

“I’m not ready to say exactly when Sting is gonna hang it up, but I do know every time we get to see Sting go out there in AEW, it’s very special. Any time he’s out there with the fans, it means a lot to them. I know for me as wrestling fan, being in his presence, every time I see him, I get chills. I think it’s like that for a lot of people when they see ‘The Stinger’ in AEW.”

“The Icon” will compete in the Great Muta’s final match at the Great Muta Final Bye-Bye show on January 22. More information is available here.
