Will Ospreay Confirms The Return Of ‘Elevation’ Was A One Time Only Thing

Wrestling fans rejoiced when Will Ospreay came out to his old theme song “Elevation” at Wrestle Kingdom 17, but don’t get too attached to that song again.

Former IWGP United States Champion Will Ospreay was a recent guest on The Sessions with Renee Paquette to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about the return of his “Elevation” theme song at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Ospreay reveals that it was a one-time-only thing.

“The story with that is that’s the guy that Kenny said goodbye to at one point. I was The Aerial Assassin. I was the good guy f**king fighting for New Japan,” Will Ospreay said. “I was that guy, and then along the way, while this pandemic kicked in, I’ve transformed into this different guy, and I think for me personally going against Kenny, the story was that wasn’t the guy you said goodbye to.

“That wasn’t the guy who said, ‘The company’s gonna lean on you. I need you to push forward. I need you to be the guy now.’ For me, it was poetic to not only bring back the Assassin’s Creed hoods because that’s the guy he said goodbye to; I wanted the full experience. I wanted to be a f*cking babyface and come out like a superhero. And it was just one of those ones where it was a one-time-only thing. There’s a small, small part of me wanting to bring it back. But I just think right now I failed at that mission. I need to go coincide. Maybe I did something wrong. Maybe that wasn’t the right choice. So it was one of those ones in it.”
