Matt Riddle will miss a few weeks with an “injury” after Solo Sikoa attacked him on the December 5 episode of WWE RAW, but a new report suggests that there’s another reason for his absence.
Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net reports that Riddle failed a drug test ahead of WWE SummerSlam, which was why his scheduled match against Seth Rollins at the show was postponed. Haynes noted that this was the last drug test under Vince McMahon’s regime, and once Triple H took over, the company took a “new creative direction” with Riddle. WWE reportedly informed Riddle at the time that he would be dealing with a “rehab or fired situation”, like Jeff Hardy previously faced, if he failed another drug test.
Haynes then wrote that Riddle was written off TV on the December 5 episode of WWE RAW due to another failed drug test. The belief is that he has already entered rehab, or will do so soon. WWE announced that Riddle will be out of action due to his “injury” for six weeks.
There’s currently no word on what Riddle failed the test for, but the company no longer tests for marijuana.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
