Cain Velasquez is reportedly trying to get clearance to wrestle while he’s out on bail.
Velasquez was booked on an attempted murder charge after he was involved in a shooting incident on February 28; he allegedly shot into a car that contained Henry Goularte, who had been charged with molesting one of Velasquez’s relatives. Goularte’s stepfather, Paul Bender, was allegedly hit during the incident. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was charged with attempted murder and later denied bail. He was granted bail on November 8, and as part of the terms of his release, he is under GPS monitoring.
According to MMA Junkie, during an arraignment hearing on November 8, Velasquez entered a motion for permission to compete at the AAA Lucha Libre World Wide Event in Arizona on December 3. Judge Daniel T. Nishigaya ultimately redirected the decision to a judge who is more familiar with Velasquez’s case, and a decision is expected on Tuesday, November 22.
Marc Raimondi of ESPN notes that the show is likely special for Velasquez; it will be held at Tempe at Mullett Arena, and the former WWE star was a two-time All-American wrestler at Arizona State.

Velasquez has wrestled at multiple AAA shows; most recently, he was in action at TripleMania Regia II. He also faced Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.
