Dustin Rhodes is ready to return to All Elite Wrestling, and it appears that Jeff Jarrett is perhaps in his sights as someone he wants to get in the ring with.
All Elite Wrestling’s Dustin Rhodes was recently a guest on Sports Guys Talking Wrestling to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his knee surgery and a recent tweet that teased he might be retiring, Rhodes said he’s feeling great now but admits that retirement still weighs on his mind a bit.
“The knee is great, man. I’m feeling good,” Dustin Rhodes said. “I’m ready to go back. So I’ll be back very, very soon. Probably two weeks. Right now, I feel good. Yes. I am getting older. So yeah, [retirement] kind of weighs on my mind a little bit.”
Dustin Rhodes went on to reveal that he’s had 14 surgeries throughout his professional wrestling career, but this was the first time he had one on his ACL. He understands that the professional wrestling industry is a young man’s game now but has an issue with Jeff Jarrett showing up in All Elite Wrestling and calling himself The Last Outlaw, as he believes that moniker is reserved for himself.
“Well, I’ve had a lot of cleanings. I’ve never had an ACL surgery. I’ve had 14 surgeries altogether. I was feeling a little old because of my knee, and it was taking me a little longer to recuperate from it. But once it went over the hill, it was great. Now I got it. It’s good to go. But I am getting older, and they’re getting younger and faster.
“And I know my time is short. I still have a year under contract or a little less than a year, and I’m just going to try to do the best I can and entertain as much as I can because I still love it, and I’m still pretty passionate about it. But it is a young man’s game. Everybody finds out as The Undertaker found out, as Bret Hart found out, as Stone Cold found out.
“All the greats that ended up getting out, and Jeff Jarrett just came aboard, and he called himself The Last Outlaw, and I kind of have a little beef with him because of that because I consider myself because I’m still working and still working at a high capacity The Last Outlaw, the last of my kind from back in the day. And that’s like a badge of honor to me, and he called himself that, and I kind of got pissed.”
