Sammy Guevara is one step closer to the AEW World Championship.
During the September 9 episode of AEW Rampage, Sammy Guevara defeated Darby Allin in a wild card match to qualify for the AEW World Championship Grand Slam Tournament of Champions. The former rivals renewed their feud in a heated battle. In one highlight, after Darby Allin took Guevara’s wedding ring, “The Spanish God” put it back on and flipped everyone off. The interference of Tay Melo and Anna Jay A.S. helped Guevara clinch the victory, as he nailed Allin with a low blow and pinned him with the GTH.

As a result, Guevara will now face Jon Moxley in a semi-finals match on the September 14 episode of AEW Dynamite in Albany, New York.
Also set for Dynamite is the other semi-finals tournament match as Bryan Danielson will rematch with Chris Jericho. The winners of those semi-finals matches will compete for the vacant AEW World Championship at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21.
