Kamille On Her NWA Women’s Title Reign: It’s Been An Incredible Year, It’s An Honor To Rank Alongside Legends

NWA World Women’s Champion Kamille is proud of her long reign with the title.

Kamille won the gold back at NWA When Our Shadows Fall in June 2021, and she has retained the championship ever since. She has defended it against Taya Valkyrie, Chelsea Green, and other noteworthy names.

In an interview with Andrew Thompson, Kamille reflected on her reign as the champion and stated that it has meant a lot to her, as she has showed the world what she can do as a wrestler.

“It’s meant a lot, I feel like I’ve really come into my own this past year, little bit over a year, and really showed everybody kinda what I’m made of,” said Kamille. “When I first won the title, I’d only had a few matches with the NWA at that point. So ever since then, I’ve really grown as a performer, as a wrestler, as a talker, just everything, so it’s been an incredible year.”

The champion has already closed in on a historic reign; having held the title for over 445 days, she has the tenth-longest reign in NWA history. She discussed being in the same conversation as legends like Jazz and noted that it’s an honor.

“It’s definitely something super special, especially all of the women that have held this title before,” said Kamille. “Like you said, I’m up, Jazz, she helps out backstage at the shows, and to be kind of in there with someone like her is such an honor.”

Given her lengthy reign, Kamille has already defended her title 21 times. When asked about it, she made it clear that she’s proud of this reign, but she wishes it got more attention in the wrestling landscape, considering its impressive nature.

“That’s interesting to me because I’m not big star person when it comes to wrestling,” said Kamille. “So even the number of days that I’ve been champion, I don’t know unless someone tells me. So yeah, that’s super interesting and really cool. It’s something that I’m very proud of, and I’m happy that you noticed that because I will say, it’s something that for some reason just doesn’t get talked about a lot.

“I don’t know if it’s because our company is still growing and we’re trying to get eyes on it still. But it’s something that I do think gets kinda looked over, and it’s like, right now I’m the longest-reigning champion on the scene right now. So it’s something that I’m really proud of and I just wish would catch on a little bit more and people would get more of a hold of.”

More of the interview is available here.

Kamille will defend the title against Max The Impaler on the second night of NWA 74 on August 28.
