Report: Eddie Kingston Recently Completed AEW Suspension, Kingston Comments

Eddie Kingston has reportedly completed a suspension from All Elite Wrestling.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Kingston, who has been off of AEW television recently, was “secretly suspended” after he got into an argument with Sammy Guevara a few weeks ago, and the suspension is over. Guevara and Kingston have involved in a feud since “The Spanish God” helped Chris Jericho beat Kingston on the July 20 episode of AEW Dynamite. Kingston subsequently challenged Guevara to a match at All Out. Guevara accepted the challenge at the AEW Rampage tapings on August 10, and Kingston cut a promo about it. However, neither segment made television, and the match hasn’t been referenced since.

Likewise Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that he hasn’t directly confirmed the suspension with AEW, but he has been told that it has been completed. Sapp cited sources who indicated that one planned segment to build the match for the pay-per-view had been scrapped. He also cited rumors from talent who stated that Guevara and Kingston had “heat” with each other, and they had an “altercation.” These rumors suggest that Guevara made a remark about Kingston’s weight, and the later “took a swing at him” though this aspect of the situation hasn’t been confirmed.

Fightful has been unable to confirm that with All Elite Wrestling, but have heard that he’s already completed it. Kingston has not been present at recent All Elite Wrestling segments, and we’ve been told of at least one segment to build up the once-planned All Out match that was scrapped. Rumors among talent that we’ve heard about said that Guevara and Kingston had developed heat and it devolved into an “altercation.” The word backstage was that Guevara made a comment about Kingston’s physique, and Kingston took a swing at him. We’ve not confirmed that with anyone that witnessed it, and reached out to both parties.

Guevara’s feud with Kingston’s friends is ongoing; he and Tay Melo will face Ortiz and Ruby Soho on the August 25 episode of AEW Rampage.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider subsequently confirmed the news, noting that Kingston confronted Guevara backstage at the Minneapolis show due to something he said in a promo. Kingston has not been at AEW tapings since, but he is expected to return next week.

Johnson also provided a comment from Kingston, who confirmed the suspension and said, “You know the truth. I wouldn’t lie. I was wrong for being unprofessional. That is the blind fact. He did what he did and the public can judge that but I know for a fact I was wrong.”

Johnson stated that it’s unclear whether Guevara was suspended, and while he wasn’t at the taping last week, there were plenty of travel issues. He competed on the AEW Rampage taping on Wednesday.
