Gunther has made quite a good impression since he moved to the main roster, according to a new report.
The former WALTER debuted on WWE SmackDown on April 8. He has been a dominant force on the blue brand, and behind the scenes, WWE higher-ups have taken notice of his recent efforts.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, “people of influence” have been impressed with Gunther; specifically, his move to the United States and his focus on getting into shape have been seen as two major positives. Previously, the former NXT UK Champion seemed unwilling to relocate from his home in Europe, but his agreement to the move, along with the way he has cooperated with some abrupt changes to his creative, have won people over.
Ross Sapp’s report references the former NXT star’s handling of the sudden end of the Imperium and Gunther’s name change as two examples. Plus, one source noted that Vince McMahon himself has liked what he has seen of Gunther’s in-ring work on SmackDown.
“The Ring General” is set to challenge Ricochet for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the June 10 episode of WWE SmackDown.
