Mustafa Ali hoped to triumph in front of his hometown crowd at WWE Hell in a Cell.
At the Premium Live Event in Chicago on June 5, Ali challenged Theory for the WWE United States Championship. Theory has been ducking Ali’s challenges for weeks and using underhanded tactics to gain the upper hand on him. On the May 30 episode of WWE RAW, Theory attacked Ali during a match against Ciampa where a shot at the title was on the line. He then defeated the fan-favorite to retain the title, but WWE official Adam Peace booked a rematch for Hell in a Cell.
Ali came to the ring wearing a custom shirt that referenced the Chicago Bulls.

The challenger fought with the heart of a champion, as he pushed the young star to the limit. Theory had the strength advantage, but Ali’s high-flying offense helped him come within seconds of victory on multiple occasions. In the end, Theory pinned Ali with the A-Town down to retain the title. After the bout, he took a selfie to celebrate.
