Report: Killer Kross Had Talks With AEW, Was Planned For TV Match

W. Morrissey generated plenty of buzz when the IMPACT Wrestling star appeared on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite and faced Wardlow. But the company reportedly planned on using another powerhouse for the same role.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Killer Kross had talks with AEW about coming in for the bout. Ross Sapp noted that these discussions broke down, so Kross’ AEW debut was ultimately nixed. Ross Sapp wrote that Kross was concerned when he found out that his wife Scarlett would not be involved; he felt his presentation might line up with his time on WWE RAW, when he worked without her. Whereas Kross and Scarlett were a successful pairing on NXT, “The Herald of Doomsday” had an underwhelming run on the main roster.

Though the two sides opted not to work together this time around, Ros Sapp cited sources who believe that Kross and AEW are on good terms, which could leave the door open for another opportunity at some point.

During the ROH Supercard of Honor media scrum, AEW president Tony Khan previously stated that he likes Kross and Scarlett’s work during the scrum, and he noted that he’d be open to working with them.

WWE released Kross, a former NXT Champion, last November. Since then, he has remained active on the independent scene. He has also competed for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Major League Wrestling, among other promotions.
