The Roast Of Ric Flair is finally happening at STARRCAST.

STARRCAST confirmed the “Roast Of Ric Flair” will take place at its next event in Nashville in July.

From STARRCAST:

“The Roast of Ric Flair” Set to Headline STARRCAST V

He is a 16-time world heavyweight champion. He is universally recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever to set foot in the squared circle. He is a larger-than-life personality who was ahead of his time, and yet continues to have a major influence in today’s pop culture. He has been the main event in countless arenas around the world, and on Friday, July 29th, just two days ahead of his final match ever, live from World Famous Nashville Fairgrounds, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair will once again be the headlining act, but this time he will take center stage at STARRCAST V for “The Roast of Ric Flair.”

“The last weekend in July is going to be Ric’s swan song in a professional wrestling ring, so what better way to send him off before his final match than giving him a proper roast,” asked STARRCAST creator and organizer Conrad Thompson. “Ric’s career has transcended professional wrestling and made him a pop culture icon. You’ve seen his influence everywhere from sports to hip hop. He’s done it all, except get roasted by some of his dearest friends and the most talented comedians in the world. That all changes on July 29th.”

STARRCAST V, in partnership with Thuzio, a Triller company, will take place at the world famous Nashville Fairgrounds from Friday, July 29th to Sunday, July 31st. The event will also be made available worldwide, exclusively on FITE.

Presale tickets for those who have purchased past STARRCAST wristbands, will go on sale at 12pm EDT on Thursday, May 19th. Public ticket sales will begin at 12/pm EDT on Friday, May 20th at www.STARRCAST.com. Preordering the event on FITE will also go live at 12pm EDT on Friday, May 20th. Fans who preorder the event on FITE will have opportunities for exclusive Ric Flair collectable merchandise.

Ric Flair also confirmed his in-ring return on July 31 during STARRCAST weekend; the opponents have not been confirmed yet but several names are rumored to be included in the match.

Flair’s roast was originally set to take place during STARRCAST II weekend, but the event was postponed due to Flair’s health issues.

WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo spoke with Dan St. Germain and Scott Chaplain after the Flair roast was put on hold in 2019. The pair previously took part in The Roast Of Bruce Prichard and spoke about their scrapped Flair set and how it was tough to try and roast someone as revered as Flair is.

DSG: “Well first of all, all the wrestlers were great sports. Like everybody, Bischoff was awesome, Jarrett was awesome, Bruce and Conrad were awesome. The one thing that we like, we got there and I don’t think that some of them didn’t know what a roast was? So it was like ten minutes beforehand and Bischoff was like, I’m like ‘You have your jokes?’ and he goes, ‘Oh, you ribbing me?’ I’m like, ‘No, no I’m not ribbing you.’

Flair’s different than Prichard because I think Prichard is more of a heat magnet and Prichard himself would say that, and I think Prichard would take it better than anybody else and he like relishes that role, but Flair is like the best of all time. So it’s tougher to roast a guy who’s the best of all time. That’s the thing you get nervous about and we were nervous about last year. Some of these guys have the ability to kick the shit out of you. You know? Like most of them do. Like I can take some of the fans that come to the convention but that’s about it. I’m still a fat guy with like a shitty ponytail.”
