Scott Armstrong Cites Triple H As A Favorite To Work With In The Ring

Triple H may be done wrestling, but plenty legacy names note of his greatness in the squared circle, including Road Dogg Brian James and Scott Armstrong. Brian’s older brother joined him and co-host Ryan Katz on the latest Oh You Didn’t Know podcast and Katz asked Scott about who were some of his favorite wrestlers to work with. Scott revealed that he has never been asked that question. The first name that came to mind was Brian’s old DX cohort and NXT creative colleague

“I always enjoyed working with Hunter because he always had good matches and I always enjoyed being a part of a good match,” Scott said. Later on, Road Dogg added another great aspect about working with Triple H.

“Look this is just how it was, he had a little leeway and he could use some bells and whistles and sometimes that included a ref bump or something. So there was always something cool you could sink your teeth into when you had a match with him,” he said.

“His pace was always good, you know what I mean? It flowed and it always felt good to me anyway. I didn’t blow up,” Scott laughed.

“It was like Harley Race, but a little more up-tempo than that, but he was methodical like that,” Road Dogg added.

Another name that Armstrong enjoyed worked with was CM Punk, who noted the string of matches Punk had with Mike Knox in ECW.

“Those matches went about 20 minutes and one of the best mat wrestling, oh man! I told Punk, I said, ‘Dude, you missed your calling.’ He should have been in the 80s because that was what they were doing right then. He should have been with me.”

Armstrong brought up another set of names from more recent times as Matt Hardy worked a fantastic match with Mustafa Ali at a house show.

“We were at a live event and I was one of the producers. They went out there, they were on like second, and they just tore the house down. They came back and I said, ‘I don’t know if that could be followed.’ It was like that.”

“If I was next I would have yelled at them,’ Road Dogg laughed. “‘Why don’t you go out there and get over? What the crap? Now I gotta follow that!'” he said acting like he was in the situation.

“But here I am all this time later and I vividly remember those two matches for sure,” Scott mentioned.
