Tammy Sytch has been arrested and charged on nine counts related to the fatal car accident she was involved in on March 25.
Sytch was arrested in Ormond Beach, Florida on Friday night in connection with the death of 75-year-old Julian Lasseter, who was killed in the three-car accident caused by Sytch on March 25. PWInsider.com first reported Sytch’s arrest.
According to police reports, Sytch was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided with Lasseter’s car after her vehicle failed to stop. Lasseter died on the way to the hospital; passengers in the third car complained of various injuries but they were not hospitalized.
According to Volusia County Sherriff’s records, Sytch is being charged with DUI manslaughter, driving with a suspended or revoked license and causing death or serious injury, in addition to seven counts of a DUI causing damage to a person or property.
Sytch is currently being held on bond for charges totaling $227,500. The DUI manslaughter charge carries a bond of $200,000 and the suspended license charge has a bond of $10,000. All of the seven other charges have a bond of $2,500.
The DUI manslaughter charge is a felony in Florida, and Sytch could face as many as 30 years in prison if convicted.
Sytch remained free while the Ormond Beach Police Department waited for her full toxicology report to be completed. A lawsuit had been filed by Lasseter’s estate on April 12, with the filing seeking more than $30,000 in damages, also accusing Sytch’s boyfriend, James F. Pente, of being “vicariously liable” for the accident by allowing Sytch behind the wheel while intoxicated.
