Brian Myers Is ‘Super Proud’ Of MJF: You Don’t Just Get The Success He’s Having By Accident

MJF has turned into a true star in professional wrestling, and Brian Myers is the one to partially thank/blame for that.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Brian Myers spoke about training MJF and how much progression the self-proclaimed “Salt Of The Earth” has made so far. Myers says he’s been working with MJF since day one, but credits MJF’s work ethic as a major reason he’s been able to excel as much as he has.

“It’s incredible. I’m super proud of him. Obviously we’re very close. I saw him come in from like literally a dipshit 18-year-old kid that knew nothing to a superstar,” Myers explained, “so there’s obviously a level of pride that goes along with that transition. It’s been incredible. But back to what I was saying, it didn’t happen by accident. He worked his ass off, first one there, last one to leave type thing. And maybe that stuff gets lost with the character and that’s fine because he’s maybe the best heel in the business but a lot of that stuff went on behind the scenes. You don’t just get the success he’s having by accident.”

Myers continued, noting how the pair met during a transition period in MJF’s life. Myers says MJF has always had the gift of gab, recalling an early promo that had him fighting back laughter.

“He quit college football, his dad was furious because he had a scholarship and brought him in and basically said hey, he’s your problem now. He said he wants to be a wrestler. And then he always had something but not, I could have never forseeen the big star status that he’s already reached so young in his career. But he always had the confidence and he always had something. I remember day one, promo class he kind of lit up this kid, making fun of him and I had to kind of try not to be biased, I’m trying to hide my laughter. He’s just slaughtering this kid, it was low-hanging fruit that he just annihilated. He always had that in him. I just taught him hammerlocks and the headlock takedowns.”
