Gunther, formerly known as WALTER, has arrived on WWE SmackDown, and he didn’t come alone.
On the April 8 episode of WWE SmackDown, Ludwig Kaiser (Marcel Barthel) introduced Gunther, “The Ring General” ahead of his “invasion” of SmackDown.

“The Ring General” dominated local talent Joe Alonzo en route to a decisive victory. He pinned Alonzo with an emphatic powerbomb,
Gunther is a former NXT UK Champion, and he held the title for 870 days before Ilja Dragunov defeated him at NXT TakeOver 36 last August. He recently confirmed that he has moved to the United States, and he has been appearing somewhat regularly on NXT 2.0 for the past few months. “The Ring General” unsuccessfully challenged for Bron Breakker’s NXT Championship on the April 5 episode.
Barthel is a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion with Fabian Aichner. Together, the three men are known as Imperium.
