Lucha VaVOOM returns in May with former IMPACT Wrestling and WWE Superstar Taya Valkyrie and more.
The following is a press release from Lucha VaVOOM regarding its Cinco de Mayan event:
Los Angeles, CA (March 31, 2022)─Lucha VaVOOM (LVV)–Los Angeles’ longest-running, most celebrated variety show, where authentic Mexican masked wrestling, burlesque, and comedy collide–is set to celebrate 11 years of Cinco de Mayo craziness with even more world-class talent over two blowout nights. Lucha VaVOOM Rides Again with Cinco de Mayan is set for Thursday, May 5th and Friday, May 6th at their historic home venue, The Mayan Theatre (1038 S Hill St.), in downtown Los Angeles. Special all-access/one price tickets for this 21+ event are on sale now for $75.00 at TicketWeb.com.
LVV has been wowing audiences with their glam/slam extravaganzas for close to 20 years. Last month, LVV hosted their first live event since 2019 due to the coronavirus, selling out their Valentine’s engagement. From Los Angeles to Tokyo, across the U.S. and Canada, and all the way to Australia, people go crazy for this perfect combination of world-class, professional lucha libre-style wrestling interspersed with insane, high-octane burlesque performances, death-defying aerial acts, comedy, live music, lowriders, tequila, tamales, and more─all adding up for one unforgettable night. Cinco de Mayan’s confirmed wrestling line-up features Mexico superstars DMT Azul, Rey Horus, and Magno “The Man Mountain” Rudo. Plus, Taya Valkyrie (two-time Reina de Reinas champion and former WWE superstar), the flipping and flying wonder Jack Cartwheel, and fan favorites Li’l Cholo, the Crazy Chickens, and Los Calaveras.
Burlesque dancers and aerialists confirmed include: Ruby Champagne (multi-award-winning international burlesque performer and #29 on Burlesque Top 50 in 2021), Frankie Fictitious (one of burlesque’s most coveted performers, named Miss Exotic World in 2019 and voted #1 Burlesque Act in 2020 by Risky Spotlight Magazine), Lena Fumi (contortionist, aerialist, and dancer), and AryA (Brazil’s astounding aerial sensation).
In addition, the event will feature danza Azteca group Xipe Totec, Grandeza Mexicana Folk Ballet Company, and the Long Beach car club The Crusaders, who will be dropping off performers at the venue’s front entrance as attendees make their way inside.
Delivering insanely off-the-cuff commentary both nights will be hosts Eric Price (actor and comedian whose credits include being a cast member in MADtv, as well as Reno 911, Key & Peele, and Breaking Bad) and Peter Alberts (actor, comedian, and founding member of the comedy group The Dead Alewives, who performs with the improv group Old Milwaukee).
