AEW star Anna Jay recently spoke with SEScoops’ Ella Jay and discussed the hot-button topic of the women’s division in All Elite Wrestling. Anna says while there are more male athletes in the company, she hopes that one day it can be more of a 50/50 program.
“The biggest thing is that it’s male-dominant. Of course, we always want more segments and more time and more matches because I think the obvious majority of the time there’s more male segments and more male matches. So, I think the biggest issue is just trying to get more time and get more matches and hopefully one day, it’s somewhat even but I will say there’s more male wrestlers, so it makes sense in some ways. But, I would say that’s the biggest issue but also just trying to — and I’m not going to say women aren’t as good as men but just trying to be on that level, if that makes sense. I think we’re just as good and just as capable but in your head, you just wanna be the best you can be and that’s your goal.”
Anna would then delve into her gear change following her siding with Dark Order, noting that while she’s switched up her famous top hat and jacket look, she still has a few homages to that gear in her current attire.
“I still have stars on my gear, just to kind of still allude to the fact that I feel there. I would say that it’s definitely more edgy now as the queen slayer, you know I used to wear a top hat, ring jacket and all of that and I still love that stuff and maybe one day I’ll bring it back but that’s kind of what I’ve done, put the stars on my gear and make it a little bit edgier for the queen slayer.”
