Alex Zayne is recovering after an eye injury sent him to the hospital for an impromptu surgery.
Alex Zayne suffered a ruptured globe during a deathmatch over the weekend, and the injury resulted in him needing emergency surgery. Zayne later posted an update after the procedure on Sunday, noting that the procedure went well and he was now in recovery.
From Zayne:
Update: I’m out of surgery, drowsy af, someone drugged my Baja blast.
Doc said it went well. Time will tell.
Thank you all so much for all the love and well wishes.

Zayne competed at GCW The Coldest Winter in Los Angeles against Jimmy Lloyd in a “Do or Die Deathmatch.” It is unknown when the injury occurred in the match, but Zayne also noted that doctors had to stitch him up and remove a piece of glass from his eye, in addition to repairing the rupture. A globe rupture occurs when the outer membranes of the eye are disrupted by a blunt trauma, and recovery time for the injury varies.
