On February 12, the National Wrestling Alliance held “PowerrrTrip”, a special event that will air on upcoming episodes of NWA Powerrr. In the main event, Trevor Murdoch defended the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Matt Cardona. Spoilers are available below.
Cardona has had Murdoch in his sights since he made his debut at the Hard Times 2 event in December, when he attacked the champion and raised the title high. Since then, the reigning Internet Champion has aligned with Mike Knox and discussed his desire to “save” the NWA. Once the bell rang at “PowerrrTrip“, the two foes had added plenty of heat to their rivalry through several interviews.
On Saturday night, Cardona ultimately pinned Murdoch to win “The Ten Pounds of Gold.” In doing so, he ended Murdoch’s reign at 167 days and became the 55th champion in NWA history. Previously, legends like Ric Flair and Harley Race have held the title.

Cardona recently won the IMPACT Wrestling Digital Media Championship, and he also holds both AIW’s Absolute and Intense Championships.
