Jay White has walked through the Forbidden Door.
On the February 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, “Switchblade” made his AEW deut when he helped Adam Cole and the Young Bucks. The trio attacked Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero before White joined in and laid out the latter duo. In the process, White seemingly aligned with the Superkliq. The brawl came seconds after AEW confirmed that Beretta and Romero, collectively known as Roppongi Vice, will face the Young Bucks on this week’s episode of AEW Rampage.

White is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, and he remains one of the top stars in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, especially on its stateside brand, NJPW STRONG. He is the leader of Bullet Club, a group that recently stepped through the Forbidden Door and competed on IMPACT Wrestling. Given Cole’s and the Bucks’ status as previous members of Bullet Club, it’ll be fascinating to see how this relationship unfolds.
Update: After AEW Dynamite went off the air, AEW CEO Tony Khan commented on White’s appearance. In a tweet, he stated that he didn’t “secure” White until Sunday because he wanted to make sure he followed up on his previous promise of a top wrestler stepping through the Forbidden Door.
I didn’t secure @JayWhiteNZ until Sunday. I realized after the fact that Friday night I butchered my own definition of Forbidden Door in hyping tonight. I heard the fans’ feedback, & wanted to ensure that tonight was a special #AEWDynamite for all. Thank you everyone who watched!
