Brie Bella had a special moment with her husband, Bryan Danielson,formerly known as Daniel Bryan, at the WWE Royal Rumble, even if he wasn’t physically present to experience it.
On the latest episode of The Bellas Podcast, Nikki and Brie Bella discussed their experiences in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble and how they felt when they heard the “Yes!” chants from the WWE Universe once again.
“The ‘Yes!’ chant, I wasn’t expecting that from everyone…,” Brie Bella began.
“Oh my God,” Nikki Bella responded, immediately cutting her off. “Everyone got chills in gorilla, the camera pulled back, and they just got this epic shot of you in the stadium and everyone doing it, but everyone got really emotional when you were doing them.”
Brie says she wasn’t planning to go with the ‘Yes!’ chant, but when she heard the crowd start doing it, she decided to go with it because she felt her husband in the ring with her when she does it.
“When I started to hear people say, ‘Yes!’,” Brie Bella continued. “Because when I ran in, and I think I nailed Natalya, and I nailed Michelle. I started to hear the fans chanting yes, and in my head, I’m like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna go with this.’ And because I was gonna go into my Brie Mode knee, but I’m like, no, I’m gonna go with the ‘Yes!’ chant because one thing about my husband, I’ll say like, he has a huge presence.
“And when I hear the ‘Yes!’ chant, I immediately think of him. And it made me just feel him in that moment. So when I do the ‘Yes!’ chant, I don’t do it for myself or for anything. I do it because I feel my husband in that moment. And you know, my husband to me is more than just Daniel Bryan more than just Bryan Danielson. He’s a soulmate. And so feeling that energy of the crowd it makes me get teary-eyed and emotional too when I do that; it’s like he’s right next to me.”
Nikki Bella went on to say she believes the “Yes!” chant is a representation of everything Daniel Bryan stands for in and out of WWE. Stating she believes if her sister hadn’t gone along with the chant, she would have killed the moment for the fans in the stadium.
“But that’s what I love about what we do is because we can blend those moments of real-life and characters,” Nikki Bella said. “That’s the beauty of WWE. Real-life and characters that come to life together, and that’s the “Yes!” chant. The “Yes!” chant is the representation of Daniel Bryan that was in WWE forever. Then also the Daniel Bryan that married Brie Bella and had this whole iconic, beautiful love story on “Total Divas” and “Total Bellas”, but also that comes to the ring and is real. And a fan started chanting “Yes!” because it means something to them too. And if you didn’t join in on that, then you’re just killing the moment for them of why they paid a ticket and came. That’s why I love the Rumble and when we give them moments of the past.”
