Rey Mysterio is the cover star for WWE 2K22, and it’s an achievement that he’s not taking lightly.
2K held a press event this week to announce Rey Mysterio’s cover reveal for WWE 2K22. Mysterio sat down with Byron Saxton and Sam Roberts to discuss being selected as this year’s cover star and what it means to him to be featured in this year’s 2K Showcase:
“Representing the culture of lucha libre as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me,” Rey Mysterio said. “I’m looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase.”
Rey Mysterio also touched on all the accolades he’s received throughout his WWE career, making a note of how important the moment was of sharing the ring with his son for the first time:
“I think every moment, every accolade that I have throughout my career has had a different meaning,” Rey Mysterio said. “Just being able to share the ring with my son [for the first time] was a very special moment. And not only that, but we became tag team Champions — the first father and son in WWE history. It’s been an incredible ride. I’ve enjoyed every moment that I’ve had in the ring, you know, from my beginning, in ’89, up until now, 2022.”
WWE 2K22 releases Friday, March 11. If you pre-order the Deluxe or nWo 4 Life editions, you’ll get it three days early on Tuesday, March 8.
