Jeff Jarrett Believes There’s An Opportunity For Wrestling To Become More Global, Details #PickAFITE Campaign

Sometimes, there’s almost too much wrestling to watch… but Jeff Jarrett has you covered with his latest endeavor.

WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett recently spoke with WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo and discussed the launch of his ‘PickAFITE’ campaign, which will allow users to have an event chosen for them if they’re indecisive on what to watch on FITE TV. Jarrett explained the motivation behind the campaign and how it was a result of a decades-long relationship.

“Through the years, I’ve kept in contact and I’ve done a lot of events with FITE. NWA 70 was an event that I did with them, Starrcast with Conrad Thompson, they put that on and the one thing I always say consistently — we’re all connected on our phones, we live in a technology world. FITE is a technology company first, that’s their foundation,” Jarrett stated. “So, a lot of folks will be in a [certain] line of work and then they’ll try to get into the technology business but FITE did it the right way. They’re a technology business first and then they migrated to a niche of combat sports and that’s where Mike Weber has a 25-year track record [in the genre], he goes back to the earliest WrestleManias.

“So, it’s a good marriage and I’ve worked with them off-and-on throughout the years and when [his AdFreeShows.com podcast] My World was launched, there just came a huge opportunity because I would tell them then, there’s so much on FITE this weekend, I don’t know which one I’m gonna pick…and that’s what birthed #PickAFITE. That’s the hashtag and that’s the promotion,” Jarrett said. “There’s going to be Bareknuckle Championships or some certain MMA, there’s literally live shows from all over the world, every weekend and a lot of folks don’t know that AEW is on FITE internationally, not the United States, not North America but from an international perspective. There’s so much to pick from and so, I’m going to help be that guy because long before I was a promoter or a wrestler, I was a fan and as a fan, I’m going to help PickAFITE.”

Jarrett would then delve into the opportunity for newer promotions to be able to pop up and garner their own niche in the world of professional wrestling. It’s been speculated in recent months that Jarrett could be in line to once again start a wrestling promotion like he has with TNA Wrestling and Global Force Wrestling. While he noted that he couldn’t speak to that degree, he does know that the wrestling market is definitely ready for someone to step in and noted how wrestling is becoming a more global sport.

“There’s so much opportunity for there to be [like AEW] an alternative [to WWE] but I’m gonna go one step further, for years and years and years, for the most part and with a ton of respect to Mexico and AAA and New Japan and Japan and other promotions in those markets, for the most part and with respect to my buddies in Germany and the UK, wrestling as been the exporter, the leader in the marketplace for entertainment. So, with the rapidly changing landscape, I really think that there’s an opportunity for promotions all over the globe to pop up,” Jarrett said. “Whether it’s South American based, Australian based, Indian based, European based, I think there’s just such an opportunity.

“And with that being said, a technology company and a streaming service, we’ll call it a promotional vehicle such as FITE, it has over 4 million subscribers. You look at Peacock and Discovery and Warner Media merging and all the big media companies, not just in the states but all over the globe, merging, well, FITE is a one-stop-shop. The world’s largest network is YouTube, it’s just how things are and things are headed that way, there’s going to be so much opportunity for other promotions to pop up all over the world and really develop, not just a following but their own brand of professional wrestling and as a promoter, a third-generation one, it’s so exciting.”
