Sometimes the best things in life come unexpectedly…as was the case for Edge, who got to check off something on his bucket list this past weekend.
WWE Hall of Famer Edge got an unexpected call from WWE officials on Christmas Eve, where according to PWInsider, he was asked to fill-in to face Kevin Owens in a steel cage match at a WWE live event at Madison Square Garden on 12/26.
COVID-19 has unfortunately once again wreaked havoc on the world of professional wrestling as several names were pulled from the company’s big post-Christmas live event in New York, New York, last night which forced the company’s hand to reach out to Edge as a replacement opponent for the aforementioned Owens.
The Canadian-born Hall of Famer took to Instagram to send the following message to Owens, admitting that a match against his fellow countryman was on his shortlist of things to accomplish before he calls it a career.
“Funny thing happened on my way to Detroit. I ended up in Madison Square Garden in a cage match against Kevin Owens. When I first got word I could wrestle again, this match was on my short list of things to do before I retire(for the last time). Have a feelin’ we’ll see each other again.”
