Swoggle On Wanting To Do More In Wrestling: ‘I Get The Itch,’ I Want To Make More ‘Crazy Memories’

Dylan Postl, also known as Swoggle or Hornswoggle, still has the “itch” to perform for wrestling fans.

Post had a remarkable run with WWE; his primary tenure with company started in 2006 and ended in 2016; during this time, he starred in some unforgettable storylines. From being Finlay’s leprechaun to Vince McMahon’s illegitimate son, Hornswoggle was regularly in the spotlight in the early years of his WWE career. He won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and later went onto be D-Generation X’s mascot, and he was revealed as the Anonymous General Manager of RAW before he memorably feuded with El Torito.

Since he left WWE, Swoggle has had multiple runs in IMPACT, popped up in AEW, returned to McMahon’s promotion, and competed on the independent scene. Recently, Swoggle, who has been wrestling for more than 15 years, hasn’t been as active in the ring, as he has explored other ventures, such as stand-up comedy. That being said, he’s eager to keep making more memories as a wrestler.

In a recent interview with WrestleZone, Swoggle described how he likes getting brought out of the “Island of Misfit Toys,” even for one-off cameos, because it makes him feel wanted.

“It’s stuff like [his IMPACT run in 2020], that you hit, every once in a while, I mean, doing the thing with AEW or the Greatest Royal Rumble, that kind of thing where, random appearances, man, it makes me feel really good about myself,” said Swoggle. “It makes me feel good about my career and that I’m still wanted. They’ll still go to the island of misfit toys here and there to take me from it, even for one day.”

Swoggle hen expressed his willingness to work anywhere in the wrestling world. He noted that he’s still on the mend from a back surgery he had in August, but he’s been feeling antsy during his recovery. Swoggle then described how running his own promotion and doing some signings fuels his interest in wrestling again.

“Man I’d be open to working anywhere at this point,” said Swoggle. “But it really is — I’m having fun. I had major back surgery back in August, and I’ve started being a little more active again. I’m not fully active, and as much as the doctors don’t want me active period and my parents don’t want me active period, I’m getting bored, and I get the itch, man.

“I run my company in Wisconsin, ACW Wisconsin, and we’re absolutely killing it. Our eighth anniversary comes up this December, which is crazy is in itself. But it’s, running those shows makes it really hard for me to not actively compete on said shows. I’m not, I always say I didn’t get trained to sign my name, and that’s just how I am. That’s literally how I am. I can’t, when I get bought in for signings, it’s so much fun. But [I] also the watch a show and go, oh man, I really wanna be in front of that crowd and doing something. And that’s the mark in me, the fan in me, and I gotta be okay sitting back and signing my name.”

Despite this passion to wrestle, Swoggle has contemplated the advice of his close friends, Ethan Page and Brian Myers, who have encouraged him to embrace his past accomplishments, rather than chasing more moments. Still, Swoggle emphasized his desire to keep building onto his legacy.

“Actually Ethan Page told me very, very candidly, he said, ‘You’ve had a really good run, abetter run than most could ever ask for — be okay with what you’ve done,” said Swoggle. “You don’t need to keep trying to make new memories and new moments. He goes, ‘You want to, but sit back and be okay with what you’ve done.’ And it hit me. And I was like, ‘Oh man, yeah, I’m okay with that.’

“And Bryan Myers, Curt Hawkins, said the same thing. He said, ‘People would dream of your career. Be okay with that at this point, and if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen.’ I’m not, and I want it to keep happening, and I wanna make crazy memories.”

Swoggle will face Page in a singles match at AIW “We Had A Few Fits A Few Years Ago” on December 18; the event will stream on IWTV.

Otherwise, fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for Swoggle, but there’s no doubt that he’s already had a legendary career in the wrestling world.
