Kevin Owens Explains Why He Re-Signed With WWE, Calls The Decision ‘Pretty Easy’

Kevin Owens made the best decision for his family.

On Friday, Fightful Select reported that Kevin Owens had re-signed with WWE. Pat Laprade confirmed the report, noting that he spoke with Owens for a podcast, which would be released on Thursday. Laprade has since published a new episode of his TVA Sports’ podcast Les Anti-Pods de la Lutteand Owens explained to Laprade and co-host Kevin Raphael about why he re-signed with WWE and why it made sense for himself and his family.

“I’m just going to say that it still ends on January 31, but not 2022. I’m still going to be there for several years,” Owens said. “The decision was pretty easy because it really was the best thing for my family. When it comes to that, it’s always a pretty easy decision. WWE has been my home for seven years, so I have a sense of belonging. Basically, I spent most of my career there. When you look at all the wrestling companies I’ve wrestled in, in WWE, that’s where I’ve been the longest, that’s where I need to be for the next few years. That’s how I felt and that’s the decision I made.”

On Wednesday, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer reported Owens’ deal was for three years worth $2-3 million per year. It was also noted that the deal was reportedly signed a few weeks ago, and there is not a no-cut clause involved.

Laprade’s full interview with Owens will be released on Tuesday, December 21. Owens is currently scheduled to challenge for the WWE Championship at WWE Day 1 in a fatal 4-way match, with Big E defending against himself, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley.
