New Japan Pro Wrestling returned to World Tag League competition after two back to back nights of the Best of Super Juniors tournament. The fifth night of Tag League saw Tetsuya Naito & SANADA break ahead of the competition, while Yuji Nagata & Tiger Mask closed the show with all of New Japan’s Main Unit to celebrate the team’s first tournament win, and also to send the fans home happy and hopeful as Japan begins to find its way out of its pandemic spike earlier this year.

Nagata & Tiger Mask’s win puts Minoru Suzuki & TAKA Michinoku in jeopardy, as the team has yet to win a single match in this year’s tournament. Also winless is Great Bash Heel, who fell to Ten-cozy in the first tournament match of the night. GBH & Ten-cozy put their match behind them when they joined Nagata, Tiger Mask, and the rest of Main Unit for the heartwarming closing celebration.
Elsewhere on the show, Dangerous Tekkers got revenge for their Tokyo Dome loss to Guerrillas of Destiny, besting the Tongan tandem in a back and forth contest. Sabre snuck out the win with a rollup on Tanga Loa, and quite frankly the rollup was the story of the night.
Chase Owens fell to a rollup. Aaron Henare fell to a rollup. Tanga Loa fell to a rollup. It was a night of sneaky wins, with the dominant wins of House of Torture, Ten-cozy and Tiger & Nagata stand out all the more prominently.
Plus in the opening contest the Young Lions wrestled another brutal 10-minute chunk.
