Darby Allin gives MJF credit, even though he doesn’t want to.
Darby Allin recently appeared on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox and talked about his match with MJF at Full Gear, and why he considers it his favorite one.
“In a weird way, I know it sounds crazy, but it’d have to rank number one, in a weird way only because I don’t like to give Max that credit. The whole thing with that is, going into the match, I had a lot to prove myself because there’s all these new faces coming to AEW and we had to prove to them, the audience, that the pillars, so to speak, are gonna steal the show, and we did just that. So it’s good not to get lost in the shuffle in these times.”
Darby Allin also spoke about wanting to enjoy his accomplishments but said he’s going to continue to focus on showing his doubters that he belongs in AEW.
“I would like to stop and smell the roses, but I’m in such game mode where I’m just like speed ahead. Like yo, if you don’t think I belong here, I’m gonna show you every single week what I do. And that’s what I do.”
Darby also spoke about constantly training to get better and explained where his drive comes from.
“Oh yeah, I put a ring in my basement right when I moved in. Professional wrestling’s a sport where it should be treated like you constantly train and get better and improve. You’d never see Michael Jordan stop training, you know what I mean? You gotta treat it with respect.”
