EJ Nduka has been doing his homework ahead of MLW War Chamber, where he’ll compete in the titular match alongside Alex Hammerstone, Richard Holliday and two mystery partners against CONTRA Unit.
In a recent interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, “The Judge” explained that he soaked in as much information as he could when WWE NXT booked WarGames matches during his time there. More recently, he described how he has been studying Elimination Chamber bouts, among other stipulations, in order to teach himself some important aspects of storytelling in these matches. Nduka also noted that he has focused on finding ways to get the fans invested in the match.
“I’ve also, for the past couple weeks weeks, been watching a bunch of Elimination Chamber matches, cage matches, all this stuff,” said Nduka. “And I’m just kind of learning and just bringing it all in and just gonna melt ‘The Judge’ with what I’ve been exposed to.
“I wasn’t necessarily looking for like spots. I was more looking towards the story, the stories they told and how they emulated, what they were trying to portray involved the people that were there because that’s the biggest thing, is getting them to feel, getting them to want, getting them to invest themselves in these matches. And that’s where I want to excel. I want to grab their attention, and it’s the stories, how to make…the amazing fans be drawn into what you’re trying to show them.”
Though “The Judge” will fight alongside Hammerstone on Saturday, Nduka named the reigning MLW World Heavyweight Champion as someone he’d “love” to face. He also pointed to Davey Richards, Jacob Fatu and Lee Moriarty as some members of the MLW roster he wants to work with.
“I’m really a big fan of Davey Richards, the guy’s tremendous,” said Nduka. “I really love the way Mads Krügger works. [He’s] another big man that, you know, he’s agile and he moves well on his feet. Obviously would love to get in there with Hammer and Fatu. Those guys are the titans of the division right now, so that would be awesome.
“I mean the roster’s so saturated with people that I would love [to face], like Lee Moriarty, that’s another one. Dude’s smooth like butter. So people like that, [I] would definitely love to get in the ring with them and also learn from them.”
Nduka will be in action at the MLW War Chamber taping on November 6. The event will air over the next several weeks on MLW programming.
