WWE SmackDown viewership slightly dipped on the blue brand’s “season premiere.”
Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, using the numbers from Showbuzz Daily, reports that, per the final numbers for the October 8 episode, 2.147 million viewers watched the show on Friday. He also notes that SmackDown’s 0.52 rating in the key 18 to 49 demographic third for the third-best among other shows on cable on Friday. Still, these numbers are down from last week’s viewership (2.25 million viewers) and demographic rating (0.62 rating.)
The October 8 episode kicked off the WWE Draft, so this drop was fairly likely.
Smackdown tied with ABC's Shark Tank for #3 on TV overall in the demo for the day, behind viewership for MLB playoffs on TBS and FS1.

This week’s show featured the beginnings of the King of the Ring and the Queen’s Crown Tournaments. Plus, in the show-closing segment, Edge attacked Seth Rollins and challenged him to a Hell in a Cell Match.
