John Cena‘s mindset of being open to any “thing” when it comes to acting might take on a new meaning.
During an appearance on Esquire‘s YouTube show, “Explain This, the former WWE Champion answered a question about possibly playing Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing, in a “Fantastic Four” movie. In response, Cena worked in several usages of the word “thing” to express his openness to the idea.
“I would consider most any-thing,” said Cena. “I think keep yourself to options and different perspectives is a good way to go about life. This would simply be a thing that I would consider because I like to keep my perspective open to new things.”
In another question during the video, Cena said that despite his role as Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad, he doesn’t have the power to determine whether Marvel and DC could potentially tag team and produce a movie together. He noted that this possibility ultimately lies in the hands of the fans.
“So in my opinion, I have no way of making any of this stuff happen,” said Cena. “I’m a noob in the universe; I’m just trying to go on vacation with my friends. See what I did there? I don’t have that power. I really don’t. The people who have the power are you. If you want it bad enough, they’ll come to a business resolve.”
Cena lost his match against Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam and made it clear that, while he’s “going away” for now, he knows he can still contribute.
