Chris Jericho Beats Wardlow, Earns ‘Judas-Less’ Rematch With MJF

Throughout the last several weeks, Chris Jericho endured several daunting “Labours”, and in doing so, he has finally earned a rematch with MJF. In the fourth and final test, Jericho defeated Wardlow on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

In a match against “Mr. Mayhem, it was tough for Jericho to get any offense going for the first several minutes. MJF gladly looked on from ringside while Wardlow utterly dominated the former AEW World Champion. The big man dropped Jericho with several powerbombs and firmly controlled the bout every step of the way. Not content to passively watch the destruction unfold, MJF also interfered whenever he could in order to stack the deck against his enemy.

Towards the end of the match, hough, referee Aubrey Edwards ejected MJF from ringside when he was trying to pass his diamond ring to Wardlow. Jericho took advantage of the distraction and landed a huge blow to Wardlow with Floyd, his beloved bat, when Edwards wasn’t looking. The blow rocked Wardlow, and Jericho hit the Judas Effect for the win to punch his ticket to next week’s show, where he’ll face MJF in a singles contest.

After the match, Shawn Spears attempted to run in and attack Jericho, but Sammy Guevara made the save. A huge brawl then broke out, as The Pinnacle brawled with The Inner Circle. Once the fight settled down, MJF got on the microphone and said that while Jericho may have earned another shot, the stipulation for next week will be that Jericho can’t use the Judas Effect, and he can’t use even use “Judas” as his theme. MJF declared that if Jericho does land a Judas Effect, he will lose the match.

With the stipulations set, MJF said that next week, Jericho would not only meet his match, but he’ll also be forced to acknowledge his successor.
