Dr. Britt Baker, DMD will be putting her AEW Women’s Championship on the line during next Friday’s debut episode of AEW Rampageafter she agreed to face Red Velvet.
Baker appeared on the special “Homecoming” episode of AEW Dynamite to give an interview with Tony Schiavone, but she was almost immediately interrupted by Red Velvet, who came down to the ring with a microphone in hand. Velvet said that she was there because she wants a piece of the champion, and Baker reminded her that the last time that happened, “The Doctor” won in just three minutes.
Velvet responded by saying that she was a different competitor now, and her 22-4 record (with seven straight wins ) speaks for itself. Baker acknowledged Red Velvet’s winning streak was impressive, so she accepted the challenge. Velvet then attempted to get a sneak attack in on the champion, but Baker dropped her and stomped her face into the ring. To put an exclamation point on it, Baker pushed a crutch against Red Velvet’s head and left her lying in pain.
