All that glitters is not gold.
Reginald entered WWE alongside Carmella as her sommelier when she started her “Most Beautiful Woman in WWE” character. Originally named “Tommy,” Reginald, who would later claim Thomas as his last name, quickly found himself inserted in storylines where he would be across the ring from women Superstars in intergender matches.
Recently, after being dropped by Nia Jax, Reginald found himself, fortunately, winning the WWE 24/7 Championship. On the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Reginald defended the championship against Chad Gable. That match ended in disqualification when Otis interfered but the real bombshell from Reginald came after the show in a WWE digital exclusive.
Reginald would reveal in an interview with WWE digital that he’s not actually French and he was merely faking his French accent. Reggie would say that he is actually from St. Louis, Missouri, and saw an ad to be Carmella’s sommelier and knew that he could utilize that as his foot in the door of WWE.
“Look, I’m not from France. I’m from St. Louis, Missouri. I’ve been a fan of WWE my entire life. I saw a posting that Carmella needed a sommelier. I thought, ‘I can do that.’ But, she wanted me to speak French and also speak in a French accent. I’m like, ‘If I need to do this, I certainly can,’ but that was never the goal. My goal was to get a foot in the door, and now I’m the 24/7 Champion.”
It appears kayfabe really is dead. Reggie fooled us all.
24/7 Champion Reggie informs the WWE Universe that he’s actually not French, he’s from St. Louis, and that the only reason he was speaking with that accent was because @CarmellaWWE asked him to. @ReginaldWWE pic.twitter.com/e4G3NY9OZQ
