The Rock running for president has been gaining steam over the past few years and it appears to be a reality in the CW series Legends Of Tomorrow.
A new behind-the-scenes interview from the CW features clips from the third episode of season 6, where Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) learns that The Rock is the President of the United States in the year 2045. Surprised at the revelation, he even jokes that John Cena is The Great One’s Chief Of Staff.
The Rock has entertained the idea of running for office in the past, explaining that he’d strongly consider it if the people wanted him to. The Presidential run is also a current plot point in his new NBC series Young Rock, featuring Dwayne Johnson running for office in 2032.
Johnson was a recent guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote the series and he explained how the show’s creator came up with the idea (and what convinced him to agree to it).
“So we sat for a few weeks,” he said, “she came up with the idea, she said, ‘What if we set it in 2032 and you’re running for President?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, it feels a little political’ and she goes, ‘Well, there might be a few people that want to see you run for President, so think about it.’ So I went home and I talked to Lauren [Hashian, his wife], as you and I do, we go home and talk to our wives and Lauren said ‘I think you should do it’ and that was it.”
The third episode of Legends’ sixth season (“The Ex-Factor”) will air on Sunday, May 16.
