Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly finally met in the ring once again during tonight’s New Year’s Evil, in a match for the NXT Championship. After talking back and forth for the past couple of weeks, the two finally clashed in an epic main event to the night, and in a bloody battle, Finn Balor walked out with his championship reign continuing.
In an incredibly tough match for both superstars, Balor and O’Reilly gave it their all en route to trying to win the title. However, it was Balor’s will to not give up on his title that proved to be the deciding factor in the match. Towards the end of the match, Balor was able to lock O’Reilly into a seated abdominal stretch.
As he struggled to get to the ropes, O’Reilly was then trapped in a crossface by Balor, and things became too much. With Balor putting too much pressure on the ribs and jaw of O’Reilly, he had no choice but to tap out, giving Balor the win in a bloody affair.
