Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch, and Pat McAfee recently appeared on WWE’s The Bump, where they discussed the formation of their new stable. Here are some highlights:
On McAfee’s plan coming together:
Lorcan: “I think, you know, we had a master plan, we had Mr. Pete Donne join that master plan, and now it is coming together beautifully and I look forward to the future. And I really, really look forward to seeing what this group of gentleman can accomplish.”
On why they turned on the rest of NXT:
Burch: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Oney and I have been busting our backsides, doing whatever we could, and it wasn’t enough. So why would we not enlist the help of Pat McAfee to get the NXT Tag Team titles?”
On bringing the group together:
McAfee: “I’ve been around NXT a lot longer than a lot of people that are currently in NXT. And whenever I saw these two incredibly handsome men get treated with disrespect after disrespect, and Ridge Holland got his entire leg broken, it felt like the right time. These two are about to rocket ship, sorry Cameron Grimes, your thing’s out of gas, right to the top, and I’m just honored to be a part of it.”
“Pete Dunne and I have had conversations for a while now. Whenever I started with the Ridge Holland plot, everybody knew and didn’t know what was gonna happen. Pete Dunne was the ace in the hole.”
On the group’s goals:
Lorcan: “Speaking for myself, I’ve been in NXT for just over five years now, and I’ve watched a lot of people pass me by, get opportunities. And now I’m at the point where I’m sick of people, you know, getting opportunities handed to them. I’m gonna take the opportunity and I think linking up with Pat, Danny, and Pete, together we’re gonna take our opportunities and honestly, I think the sky’s the limit. ”
On winning titles after his long run in NXT:
Burch: “It’s absolutely amazing. My career here in NXT started in 2012, and then it was a huge, huge slap in the face when I got released the first time in 2014. And I said to myself, there is no way am I gonna leave it on the table like that. So I made a point of making sure I could come back. And now I feel that I have cemented myself as one of the most hardest-working guys in this locker room, on this roster, along with Oney, and realistically now, the fact that we have the NXT Tag Team Championships, I don’t know about you, Oney, but I’m not prepared to let them go yet.”
