There has reportedly been another COVID-19 outbreak at the WWE Performance Center. Few details are known at this time, but according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, the spread happened on this past Friday. Meltzer reports that some of the people affected by a mandated two-week quarantine period were scheduled for WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. “Aspects of the show are going to have to be changed,” wrote Meltzer. “One source in WWE said nobody that is an NXT television regular has tested positive.”
Meltzer also writes that live fans will still be present at the NXT tapings. “Fans were scheduled to be tested for COVID-19 in Winter Park, FL, Tuesday night and if they passed, they would be allowed to attend the tapings which is the normal weekly procedure,” wrote Meltzer.
Additionally, another report indicates that this outbreak may have occurred during an unofficial live event. “Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscription required) reports that NXT regularly holds in-house live events to track the progression of NXT talent, and one of these events happened this past Friday. Reportedly, many, if not all of those that were in attendance at that show were asked to quarantine.”
Still, COVID-19 continues to influence NXT and WWE, both on-screen and behind the scenes. WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
Update: Jon Alba of the Living The Gimmick podcast has provided another report, in which he states that WWE NXT Halloween Havoc attendees who have tested negative for COVID-19 have been permitted. These fans will be allowed to be in the designated pods at the Capitol Wrestling Center.
